BSA Scout Troop 42 Berkeley
BSA Scout Troop 42 Berkeley
Like all ScoutsBSA troops, Troop 42 is youth-led. BSA uses the “patrol method,” where, under adult guidance, troop youth leaders develop the troop’s annual calendar, plan meetings and activities, and mentor/teach each other. Troop 42’s plan has included camping, hiking, rafting, paddle-boarding, snow camping, skiing, back packing, high adventure trips, biking, outdoor cooking, signing, playing games, community service, and more.
In addition, scouts grow through “advancement” as part of the traditional Scouting program. Scouts work with older youth and trained adult leaders during meetings and on outings. As they gain skills and devote time to supporting their troop and community, they rise in “rank”, receiving recognition for accomplishments along the way. Scouts that fulfill all requirements and remain active members of their troop throughout can reach the level of “Eagle Scout.”
